"At the meeting, in addition to presenting the most significant projects of the Office and the investment climate in Serbia, we discussed with representatives of Amazon the strengthening of mutual cooperation in various fields. I am glad that the mutual desire for the maintenance of cooperation in the field of technological innovation and increasing human resource capacities in the IT sector has been highlighted", said Milan Latinović, Acting Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment.
He added that some of the topics of the meeting were focused on the development of technological capabilities, the development of human capacities that are ready to apply cloud technology, the faster adoption of cloud for new businesses and the use of cloud technologies in the state sector mostly through the Open Data Program, as well as through initiating new pilot projects.
"Also, we talked with the delegation about the adoption of regulations for the use of cloud infrastructure - "Cloud first policy" where we would practically use their expertise in this field, since this is the next step for the ICT sector in Serbia," said Latinović.
"Cooperation with the largest and most successful world companies can expectedly bring multiple benefits for the development of our economy and the entire society, and their presence and interest alone sends positive signals to all other similar companies, as well as businesses, especially the ones based on innovative solutions", said Jelena Bojović, Director of the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
During the second day of their visit to Serbia, Amazon representatives will also visit the Government Data Centre in Kragujevac, where a meeting will be held with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić, the Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanović, the Acting Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Milan Latinović, the Mayor of Kragujevac Nikola Dašić, and the Director of Data Cloud Technology Danilo Savić, after which a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between this company and the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications.
